Mary Jane Vaughan Designs is a creative events and wedding floristry studio based in London. As one of the country’s leading luxury florists, we bring our signature elevated and artistic style to every project.
Our flowers tell a story
Our ethos has always been focused on new and beautiful design (not just in the floristry space) and finding ways to apply that to our work – continually moving forward with new looks and concepts for more sustainable, season driven floristry.
We work very collaboratively as a creative team, often taking a group approach to design and combining our varied talents. This goes hand in hand with making creativity accessible to our clients. We have a very friendly, approachable team who love nothing more than a new challenge. We love what we do, and this is reflected in the energy we bring to every project.
Sustainability and the environment
We are in floristry simply because we love flowers and natural beauty. Our respect for the natural world is at the forefront of all we do and we always reflect the seasons in our designs.
We embrace British grown flowers and foliage in the months that they are available and incorporate them whenever we can in our work. We also work closely with our trusted wholesale suppliers at The New Covent Garden Market (and collect flowers in our new electric van). Plants are also incorporated in our designs more and more and 2024 saw our first few all-plant weddings.
In 2025 we launched an elevated wedding collection named ‘At first light’ for which we will source all flowers and foliage from British farms. It is the first time we are advertising an offering that we have been working towards for years.
Any flowers or plants that return after an event are distributed to the following inspiring organisations:
St Mungo’s Putting Down Roots is a horticultural therapy and training project helping people recovering from homelessness to grow their confidence and skills and to rebuild their lives through gardening. Putting Down Roots helps to build people’s self-esteem, confidence and sociability. We regularly donate plants to the beautiful gardening hub in Clapham for planting in their training garden and hostels around London.
Post event cut flowers are carefully gathered for collection by the Confetti Club – a not-for profit organisation that turns petals into sustainable confetti. Any remaining green waste is packed in brown paper sacks for collection by COM:POST who turn every scrap of organic waste we generate into compost to grow more plants and flowers.
Our creative team are currently working on a course with the Sustainable Floristry Network, an independent education and membership organisation for florists. The SFN has developed a Continuing Professional Development education program to support a new generation of florists committed to sustainability. This course connects the science of sustainability to the art of floristry and we are very proud to be a part of this new movement.
As we look to the future, we have ambitions to further our work in all areas of sustainability. We will continue to research and develop ways to offer floristry designs that are more sustainable – using flowers that are sourced and grown sustainably, championing designs that avoid the use of floral foam.
Social Responsibility
Flowers are at the heart of everything we do but it is our talented, multifaceted team that make us the company we are. As a business we foster a culture of kindness and acceptance, we celebrate diversity and encourage conversation about the world around us. As individuals we learn from each other, lift each other up and share our inspiration and ideas.
We are a Living Wage employer.
